The foundation for well-being, high performance and collaboration

Psychological Safety

Psychological safety is essential for learning, innovation and high performance. When employees feel safe to speak up, ask questions and acknowledge mistakes - without fear of negative consequences - collaboration improves and results follow.

At CfL, we support leaders and organisations in turning psychological safety into a practical leadership tool. Through expert guidance, diagnostics and customised programmes, we translate insights into action - designed to fit your organisational reality.

Client story: Deloitte

"We gained a shared language around psychological safety in teams."

Together with CfL, Deloitte developed and launched 'Leading High Performance Teams' - a 25-hour leadership programme focused on creating high-trust team cultures that support both risk-taking and continuous development.

Denmark’s largest audit and advisory firm wanted to focus on building sustainable teams with a high level of psychological safety. They chose a solution based on CfL’s many years of experience with psychological safety as a key factor in high-performing teams.

Kristoffer Kaspersen, IT Delivery Director at Deloitte, shares:

”The programme gave us a common understanding of the leader’s responsibility in fostering psychological safety. It gave us a shared language, practical tools and valuable self-awareness.
For me, this means disagreement is welcome, if done respectfully, because the smartest decisions are made together. And also having leadership support is essential."

Explore the case

We can clearly see that there is now a much stronger awareness of psychological safety and the role of the team – compared to earlier, when many of our leaders may have seen psychological safety as interesting, but not really relevant to them.

What does a programme include?

Every CfL programme is tailored to your needs - whether your aim is to build psychological safety in a single team or across the organisation.

The number of leaders, the degree of involvement, the use of assessments tools, team development and leadership training depend on your organization's context and priorities.

A typical programme includes four phases:

  1. Kick-off session to define outcomes, needs and success criteria.

  2. Workshops and training focused on the themes that matter most to you.

  3. Individual leadership development to drive behavioural change.

  4. Follow-up and reinforcement to track impact and sustain progress.

All with the aim of embedding learning and and turning it into lasting value.

“Many organisations aim to uphold high performance standards, but research shows that without psychological safety, people won’t thrive and performance will suffer. Without it, pseudo-cultures can emerge where people struggle, become dissatisfied, or eventually leave.”
